For Writers

Are you struggling with a first draft? Have you lost the plot? Do you need some editorial feedback?

Drawing on my experience as a prize-winning playwright and short story writer, as well as my expertise as a coach, I offer a number of services to those working in the arts.

  • Reading & feedback: receive annotations and detailed written feedback on your work as well as advice on how best to advance the piece whether it’s a script, chapter or short story. For theatre-folks, this is my approach to dramaturgy.
  • One-to-one coaching: receive supportive and insightful coaching to hone your storytelling and keep you on track whether you need support getting that first draft done, overcoming a block or want someone to develop ideas with.

If you are interested in coaching please do contact me and we can begin with a short conversation (on the phone, on Zoom, face-to-face) to explore your needs and how I can best meet them.

“It helped me to break out of the self-consciousness that often paralyses beginner writers. As I’ve learned recently, all positive change comes from shaping your mindset to mirror the change you want to see. So starting off with learning how to believe ‘yes, I am a writer’ is the most important first step to making this happen!”

“Robert’s feedback has always been invaluable to me as a writer, and they will always be my first point of call when I’m struggling with a draft or script. They’ve been instrumental to my understanding of plot, the importance of imagery, the five senses and have always been there to offer much-needed assurance whenever I fear I’m straying from the right track. Their notes are detailed, thorough and incredibly thoughtful, always pushing for more and bringing out the best in the work. I would recommend them to even the most self-assured writers! They’re brilliant.”

“Shout out to Robert for their incredible dramaturgy and advice helping us restructure Speed Dial. It’s been almost a year since we started working on it, but they’ve helped breathe new life into it and made us think about it in a totally new way.”
